UNLV (4-0, 1-0 Mountain West) opened conference play without starting quarterback Matthew Sluka but didn't miss a beat with Williams directing the offense.

UNLV and Air Force were reportedly offered signing bonuses of more than $20 million to stay put, and that was more than other conferences were willing to spend to lure them away.

The Holy Cross transfer posted a statement on social media saying, “I have committed to UNLV based on certain representations that were made to me which were not upheld after I enrolled."

UNLV quarterback Matthew Sluka, a transfer who has led the Rebels to a 3-0 start, says he will not play in any more games this season.

“The action challenges an anticompetitive and unlawful ‘Poaching Penalty’ that the MWC imposed on the Pac-12 to inhibit competition for member schools in collegiate athletics," the lawsuit said.

The UNLV basketball team hit the hardwood at Mendenhall Center for its first official practice of the season.
