Fourth LVMPD officer arrested and facing domestic battery charges

UPDATE

Court records show that after negotiating with prosecutors, on Jan. 7, Moody and his attorneys agreed that Moody would plead guilty to a misdemeanor coercion charge.

He was also ordered to attend domestic violence counseling, go to four classes, eight AA meetings, and have no contact with the victim.

A status check to see where Moody is at with those requirements is scheduled for Feb. 4. Meantime, Metro says Moody has been "relieved of duty with pay."

Police have announced the arrest of another officer now facing domestic battery charges.

Officer Gary Moody was booked into the Clark County jail on a charge of domestic battery, a charge of dissuading a person from reporting a crime and another charge for preventing or dissuading a person from testifying.

Moody has been employed with LVMPD since 2022 and has been placed on suspension of police powers with pay pending further investigation.

An arrest report obtained by Channel 13 reveals new details regarding the allegations of domestic abuse by Officer Moody.

The report reveals that Moody and the victim got into an argument on Dec. 19 about Moody being allegedly unfaithful.

The following day, on Dec. 20, the victim confronted Moody about the alleged infidelity and looked through his phone, where she alleges that she found messages from another woman that were "sexual in nature" as they were pulling up to a parking lot of an oyster bar.

Later, they went home, where Moody continued to deny the affair. Eventually, the victim requested the phone, who tried to dial the phone number of the alleged affair partner when a physical struggle happened, according to the victim.

According to the report, Moody struck the right side of the victim's face, which resulted in a swollen right cheek, a bruised and swollen upper lip, a scratched cheek and a laceration inside her upper lip with blood.

The victim also told police about a prior incident in November 2025, where Moody came home intoxicated, and the victim chose to sleep in a spare bedroom, where he allegedly forcibly dragged her into the primary bedroom.

The report also alleges that the victim was let go from her previous job due to the abuse affecting her performance at work, becoming financially dependent on Moody.

In an interview with the police, Officer Moody said that a verbal argument did happen regarding the text messages between him and another alleged woman, when he states that the victim backhanded slapped him on the forehead, causing visible reddening.

Moody provided no evidence of this alleged injury, according to the report.

He denied any physical altercation that happened inside the home and stated there was no struggle for the phone.

According to the arrest report, Moody messaged the victim, allegedly threatening to cancel the victim's phone plan, put a stop to a mortgage payment and wanted his money back, even after reporting the alleged abuse against her to police.

Police determined that there was probable cause for battery domestic violence due to her injuries and probable cause for prevent/dissuade from reporting the crime/prosecution of causing arrest due to what police deemed as intimidation to try to dissuade the victim from reporting a crime.

This marks the fourth Metro officer arrested for domestic violence this month, following Melinda Cooper's arrest announced Dec. 19, Chandler Pike's arrest on Dec. 3 and Philippe Dinh's arrest on Dec. 10.
