A ceremonial groundbreaking has been set for the MSG Sphere Thursday evening.

It will be held at 6 p.m. at the future site of the MSG Sphere near The Venetian hotel-casino. The new entertainment venue is expected to open as early as 2020.

Gov. Brian Sandoval, Steve Sisolak, Chris Giunchigliani and executives from the Madison Square Garden Company and Las Vegas Sands are expected at the event.
