Las Vegas breaking news for September 13, 2018

This is a roundup of all the breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley for September 13, 2018.

NOON

The North Las Vegas Fire Department was dispatched to the 3400 block of Herring Gull Lane in the Aliante area after a 69-year-old woman entered her driveway and drove into the back of the garage wall. Her husband, who came home just after incident occurred, and a delivery driver who was passing by tried to get her from the car that caught fire. They were overwhelmed by the flames and smoke and had to pull back. Police and fire arrived shortly after and firefighters removed the victim from the car, while other firefighters extinguished the fire. The victim had suffered cardiac arrest and burns and was pronounced dead at UMC Trauma.

10:30 A.M.

Henderson police confirmed a man was shot after they say he lunged at officers with a box cutter. READ MORE

8:48 A.M.

A child was injured after being hit by a vehicle near Lake Mead Boulevard and Tenaya Way. The child was taken to UMC Pediatrics in unknown condition. The child's age is unknown at this time. The driver remained on scene. Eastbound Lake Mead Boulevard is closed between Tenaya and Rock Springs Drive. 

6:10 A.M.

A Las Vegas police officer was responding to a report of a person with a gun when he was involved in a crash near Tropicana and Rainbow Boulevard. According to preliminary reports, the officer activated his lights and began to cut across traffic when his vehicle was struck by a Mercedes-Benz driven by a woman. The officer had no visible injuries but was transported to University Medical Center to be checked out. The woman was not transported. Road closures are still in effect. 

5:45 A.M.

Police and first responders on scene of serious crash near Tropicana Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard. Road closures are in effect. 

4:15 A.M.

Henderson police were involved in a shooting early this morning in the 1500 block of Point Vista Avenue near Patrick Lane and Galleria Drive. READ MORE
