UPDATE AUG. 3: The preseason camp may not be open to the public, but apparently doesn't include rapper Flavor Flav.

The reality TV star wore a UNLV hat, red shirt and his signature clock as he watched practice on the first day of camp. His godson, running back Rashad Walker, plays for the team.

Flav says that he has high hopes for the team. Coach Tony Sanchez says UNLV has a great group of players this year and they are working with a lot of chemistry.

ORIGINAL STORY

Preseason camp kicked off Aug. 2 for the UNLV Rebels football team. The practices are closed to the public but there will be a scrimmage later this month at Sam Boyd Stadium. Their first game is on Sept. 2 against Howard University.
