LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police believe a man killed his upstairs neighbor inside her apartment in an attack described as "unprovoked" after getting into an unrelated fight with his live-in girlfriend.

"He became upset, left the apartment, went upstairs and appears to have gone into a neighbors house, unprovoked, and physically killed her," said Lt. Ray Spencer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

RECENT CRIME STORIES:

According to the department, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call around 8 p.m. at Terrasanta Condos on Sahara Avenue near Sloan Lane.

A neighbor told police that a woman was calling out for help.

At this time authorities are unsure specifically what caused her death, but believe blunt force trauma is possible.

"We're still trying to figure out how she died," said Lt. Spencer. "We know there was a violent confrontation inside the apartment."
