5:10 A.M.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officials report that a 65-year-old man and his dog were struck fatally by a vehicle while walking along East Kimberly Avenue, near Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway. According to their report, the man was walking on the north side of the roadway, outside of any crosswalk, when he was hit. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and called 911 but it is suspected that he was impaired. The driver was arrested and booked on DUI charges.
