Firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire around 4:09 a.m. It happened at an apartment near Russell Road and Maryland Parkway. One civilian was taken to the hospital for medical reasons unrelated to smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation and damage has not been estimated.
