This is a roundup of all the breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley for January 3, 2018.

3:50 P.M.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue is reporting that heavy smoke seen in the area of Westcliff Drive and Rainbow Boulevard is smoke from a fire in a garbage truck. The truck will be dumping the load in a parking lot. LVFR is responding. 

6 A.M.

Police have closed of several lanes of traffic on Flamingo Road, near Koval Lane, due to a reported crash. Injuries have been reported at the scene. READ MORE

This is a developing situation.

4:12 A.M.

Police are on the scene of a fatal crash near Lake Mead Boulevard and Statz Street near Belmont. The intersection is closed. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

OVERNIGHT

Firefighters responded to a fire near Decatur and Twain Avenue early Wednesday. The fire appears to have started in the garage and spread to the house. 6 adults and 2 dogs were able to escape safely. One cat died in the fire.
