The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

3:45 P.M.
Police are investigating a crash that involved one of their own officers at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Maryland Parkway. The collision was between an LVMPD motorcycle officer and another vehicle. Both the officer and driver suffered minor injuries and the crash closed travel lanes near the intersection.

5:30 A.M.
Two people are recovering at UMC Trauma from smoke inhalation after a fire on Mott Circle near Sahara Avenue and Arville Street, according to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue. At one point authorities reported that four people were trapped in the building due to bars on the windows, but crews say all occupants are out of the house and safe. The home was vacant and it was squatters who were rescued, firefighters say. Four people were treated on scene, two people refused to be taken to the hospital. The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.

OVERNIGHT UPDATE
Las Vegas police say a man was hit by a car and dragged to the roadway before the vehicle involved left the crash scene shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday near North Lamb Boulevard near Stewart Avenue. READ MORE
