9:15 P.M.
Police say there was an attempted robbery at 8:15 p.m. at Ellis Island Casino & Brewery located near East Flamingo Road and Koval Lane. A male brandished a gun at the cash cage and demanded money. The employee backed away and the suspect fled without any money. Detectives are on scene investigating and patrol officers are attempting to located the suspect at this time.
2:04 P.M.
NV Energy reports that the problem that led to the power outage in the northwest Las Vegas valley stemmed from a major breaker that failed. Crews have been able to route power around the problem, and all customers should have power again.
1:43 P.M.
The majority of customers in the northwest part of the Las Vegas valley have had their power restored. NV Energy says that 300 customers still do not have power.
12:26 P.M.
NV Energy clarified that the outage in the northwest part of the valley happened because of a problem at a substation near Craig Road and El Capitan Way. Though initial reports said that the power would be back on by 2:30 p.m., NV Energy officials say that the exact time of restoration is unknown until workers can fully assess the problem.
11:55 A.M.
NV Energy reports that 12,000 customers in the Northwest part of the valley lost power around 11:38 a.m. The company says that the outages were caused by damage to NV Energy equipment.
OVERNIGHT
Police say that a 21-year-old man fell from the second story at Neonopolis after attempting to slide down an escalator rail around 2 a.m. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
