Freezing temperatures expected for New Year's Eve in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Windy and frigid conditions, especially during the overnight hours, are expected to continue throughout the holiday weekend and into the new year.

Winds are expected to stick around for most of Friday and into Saturday with gusts reaching over 30 mph across the valley.

Friday's high temperature is forecasted to only be in the upper 40s before topping out in the low 50s Saturday and Sunday.

On New Year's Eve, the forecast again is calling for temps back into the 40s during the day and below the freezing mark for the midnight celebrations.

Also, there is a freeze watch in effect for the Colorado River/Lake Mead area until Saturday morning and a freeze warning for desert counties in California.

A slight chance of showers are a possibility for Monday afternoon, but currently, it's at a less than 10 percent chance.

The forecast is calling for temperatures back into the high 50s next weekend with sunny conditions starting on New Year's Day.
