Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify 23-year-old Gabriel Rivera as a suspect in this homicide.
On Aug. 31, Rivera was located in Menifee, California and was taken into custody by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
He was booked into the Riverside Southwest Detention Center pending his extradition back to Las Vegas to face a charge of open murder.

One person is dead in east Las Vegas Wednesday morning.
It happened around 4:30 a.m. in the 4500 block of East Ogden Avenue, near Charleston and Lamb boulevards, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers were responding to several reports of gunfire, and when they arrived at the scene, they found a man with gunshot wounds, according to Lt. Robert Price. He was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Price said several individuals coming from the residence were detained and are being questioned by detectives.
This is an ongoing investigation.
