Wind, cooler temps arrive in Southern Nevada

UPDATE OCT. 10: As expected, Las Vegas residents are waking up to much cooler temperatures this morning. It's also quite windy outside. Gusts of 35-45 mph will last through the morning commute. It's in the 50s, which is almost 20 degrees colder than yesterday morning. Highs today will only reach the upper 60s, while afternoon gusts range from 30-40 mph.

Temperatures in Southern Nevada are about to take a dip as a cold front moves through the valley starting Wednesday.

These expected cooler but dry conditions will also prompt a Red Flag Warning along with a Wind Advisory from 2 p.m. Wednesday to 5 p.m. Thursday.

The sustained winds are in the forecast to be 30 mph on Thursday, with 50 mph gusts out of the north.

Overnight temperatures will drop into the 50s Wednesday and into the 40s Thursday and Friday. High temperatures will only be in the 60s on Thursday after the valley reached 90 degrees on Wednesday.

Winds are expected to relax on Friday, but clouds will move in as high temperatures will top out near 70 degrees.

The weekend is calling for temperatures to be in the mid-70s before the valley warms back up to the low 80s at the start of next week.
