NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — North Las Vegas police are investigating a crash that involved a 16-year-old Cheyenne High School student Friday afternoon.

The collision happened at about 2 p.m., according to NLV police, as the student was struck by a car while walking across the street near Gilmore Avenue and Simmons Street.

Authorities said the student was stable at the hospital after the crash, but neighbors informed 13 Action News that a lot of kids use the crosswalk, where the incident occurred, and want it to be safer as it's near the high school.

"When kids come out of school, there's not even a crossing guard, and there really should be one," neighbor Tammy Wilson said.
