LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Rape Crisis Center in Las Vegas says more can and should be done to address a "persistent" sexual misconduct problem in the Clark County School District.

"I think there's always more than can be done," said Daniele Staple, executive director of the Rape Crisis Center in Las Vegas.

Staple says at least 40 schools have signed up for the center's Enough Abuse presentation which helps teachers, students and staff recognized problem behaviors.

"Just the nature of sexual violence in and of itself, anytime there's a power differential and somebody is more vulnerable, you have the opportunity for them to be harmed in that way," said Staple.

Staple is hoping more schools will sign up for the free training.

"The program is really geared towards helping adults understand what they can do, and the steps they can take to understand what they may be seeing as predatory behavior and to step in and intervene," explained Staple.

A Clark County School District Spokesperson says the district has several programs that work to teach students and parents about appropriate relationships, interactions and communications between adults and students.

CCSD has created training videos for employees regarding relationships, interactions and communications between adults and students in conjunctions with regulation/policy 4100.

The district also has curriculum that is taught at various grade levels beginning in elementary school which gives students tools to combat dangerous situations, such as sexual abuse.

CCSD's Family and Community Engagement Services (FACES) offers parents the chance to learn about predators in a workshop known as Shout Out Loud: Mama Bear Edition.
