LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Cold Case Unit recently showcased in a 13 Investigation report will apparently be able to continue.
13 Action News Chief Investigator Darcy Spears exposed concerns from insiders and victims alike that the unit may be cut due to budget cuts.
The cold case sex assault unit refuses to quit on victims who have sometimes waited decades for justice and it had already lost a detective.
Additionally, with pending retirements this month, the unit would have been down to just one full-time detective at the start of 2021.
13 Investigates learned that the LVMPD is moving toward replacing the two retiring detectives to keep the vital work of the unit going.
