UPDATE JUNE 27: Kelsey Turner and Jon Kennison appeared in a Las Vegas courtroom but a trial date was not set. They are due back in court at 9:30 a.m. July 2.

ORIGINAL STORY
We could learn Thursday when a former model and her boyfriend accused of killing a California doctor will go on trial for his death. Kelsey Turner and Jon Kennison entered not guilty pleas to murder and conspiracy charges in a Las Vegas courtroom on June 13.

The former Maxim and Playboy Italia model had a relationship with 71-year-old child psychiatrist, Dr. Thomas Burchard, for several years before his death. 13 Action News spoke with one of Dr. Burchard’s former girlfriends Judy Earp back in April.

She told us that over the course of Turner and Burchard's relationship, he gave her more than $300,00 dollars and paid her rent.

"The last conversation I had with him, he had to go to Las Vegas to check things out because she was a compulsive liar," said Earp.

Burchard's body was found in the trunk of a luxury car abandoned on East Lake Mead in March.

Police said Burchard died after being hit in the head with a blunt object. According to the arrest report, police believe Burchard was attacked in the car and then his attackers tried to cover it up.

Turner and Kennison's former housemate Diana Pena pleaded guilty to accessory to murder charges earlier this month telling a judge that Turner and Kennison killed Dr. Burchard together.

"All I know Tom was a big guy, almost six feet, 250 pounds. I don't think one woman could get him into the trunk of the car," Earp said.

Turner and Kennison are expected to appear before Judge Valerie Adair at 9:30 Thursday morning.
