LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — It’s just two games so far, but it’s been great to be a Vegas Golden Knights fan and backer so far this preseason.

Back-to-back wins have helped VGK bettors cash at the window, especially for those who bet on them via the puck line.

The premise of the puck line is simple - whoever is the favored team (in Sunday’s preseason opener, it was the Golden Knights) gets better odds if they win by more than 1 goal. Conversely, the underdog (like VGK was Tuesday at Colorado) gets decreased odds, but gets a 1.5 goal cushion - so, if they lose by a goal or win the game, they win the bet.

That sounds complicated, but with a 6-2 win as a favorite on Sunday and a 5-0 win Tuesday as underdogs, the Golden Knights have been paying out big at the window.

In tonight’s contest against the LA Kings (7:30 p.m. on KTNV), most Vegas sports books have the game listed as a pick-up with both the Kings and Golden Knights listed as -110 to win the game.

However, most books still have VGK +1.5 goals on the puck line for tonight’s game. Yes, you have to lay a lot (-260 as of this writing at South Point and other books), but you get a small cushion in case the winning streak ends.

It’s not always smart to play the puck line — you have to worry about empty net goals in close contests (It’s why nobody leaves T-Mobile Arena early!) - but it’s another way to look at a game if you are tempted to make a bet.

Oh, speaking of tonight’s game - the over/under is pegged at 6 just like the two previous VGK preseason games. The over is slightly favored, with most books listing it at -120.
