Jersey Mike’s, a fast-casual sub sandwich franchise with more than 1,500 locations across the country, believes that making a sub sandwich and making a difference can be one and the same.

Because of that belief, they launched the March "Month of Giving" fundraising campaign six years ago. During the month of March, customers can make a donation to a local nonprofit while they are buying a sandwich. Customers can choose to make a $1, $3 or $5 donation during their visit.

That nonprofit happens to be Opportunity Village in the Las Vegas valley.

Opportunity Village provides men and women with all levels of disabilities the change to lead a life that had previously been unattainable through a variety of programs and services.

The campaign will culminate in Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on March 30 when local Jersey Mike’s restaurants will donate 100 percent of the day’s sales – every single dollar that comes in – to Opportunity Village.

Last year's Month of Giving raised more than $3 million for more than 150 charities nationwide. More than 180 charities in the U.S. will benefit from this year's fundraiser.

Bill Mapes, who owns multiple Jersey Mike's locations in Las Vegas and Arizona, and Veronica Atkins from Opportunity Village spoke with KTNV Digital about this year's fundraiser (WATCH ABOVE VIDEO).
