This week is Father’s Day and there are a number of delicious ways to treat dad to a great meal out. Here’s all the dish on what’s happening across the valley’s culinary scene.
In Henderson at Green Valley Ranch, Clique Hospitality offers Father’s Day specials at their restaurants Bottiglia and Borracha. Both are serving complimentary draft beer to dads all day. At Italian eatery Bottiglia, for brunch try the New York steak and eggs special ($34) and for dinner it’s all about the filet mignon Oscar-style ($49). At Mexican cantina Borracha, there are three specials: grilled octopus ($14), Black Angus steak ($31) and New York-style cheesecake with strawberry coulis ($10).
Across town at Red Rock Resort, T-bones Chophouse has an a la carte menu for dads with dishes such as burrata salad with summer stone fruit, speck ham, watercress, toasted walnuts and pomegranate vinaigrette; grilled jumbo prawns with Calabrian chile, mint, crispy garlic chips and grilled lime; Surf n’ Turf with a 24oz Double R Ranch 21-day dry-age bone-in ribeye, blistered shishito peppers, coriander lime pesto and butter-poached baby Tristan lobster tail; mesquite roasted whole branzino with fennel, tomato confit, capers, fresh herbs and Raineri olive oil; and a milk chocolate mousse cake with banana-passion fruit center and tropical sorbet.
Cousins New York Pizza & Pasta is a classic east coast-style pizza shop started by two cousins and they are giving away free pizza on Father’s Day.
Guests are encouraged to pre-order their free medium cheese pizza for pick up or dine in by calling 702-333-0086. And if pizza isn’t your slice of pie, they have a variety of comfort-driven Italian favorites such as pasta, hero sandwiches and calzones. Entrées include baked ziti, fettuccine alfredo, chicken parmigiana and spaghetti and meatballs.
Sparrow + Wolf is hosting a special event “Three Dads One Grill” with SecretBurger.com on Father’s Day from 2 to 5 p.m. Executive chef and owner Brian Howard, Main St. Provisions chef Justin Hall and T-Bones chef Daniel Ontiveros, who are all best friends and fathers, are inviting diners to join them around a fire outside of Sparrow + Wolf—in homage to the annual Whiskey & the Wilderness event, which is not happening this year due to COVID-19.
The Father’s Day Mixed Grill Feast ($68 per person) is available for dine in or take out with three courses, one prepared by each chef. Dishes include slow-roasted New Zealand leg of lamb served Bo-Ssam-style with lettuce, shiso, pickled vegetables and assorted condiments; stuffed local quail with duck boudin, pickled egg and oyster leaf; and wood-roasted sea bass with fennel, summer tomato, arugula and miso caper cream.
If dad is sweet and loves a treat, take him to Gus Dean’s Ice Cream now open in Pawn Plaza Downtown from 12 to 8 p.m. daily. Locally owned and operated, Gus Dean’s premium ice cream comes in a variety of flavors from classic chocolate and vanilla to Rebel Red with strawberry ice cream, almonds and chocolate cookie pieces. Guests have the option to order ice cream in waffle cones, cups, as a three-scoop flight or in a milkshake. Gus Dean’s Ice Cream is made locally at their Las Vegas factory—and they have two other locations at UNLV and Meadows Mall.
Want to enjoy a taste of the Strip from home? Order dad a spread from Sadelle’s Café at Bellagio. The Father’s Day feast includes a half-dozen bagels, smoked salmon with all the fixings, blueberry pancakes, cobb salads, turkey and roast beef triple decker sandwiches and more ($125)—exclusively available on UberEats this Sunday. This is the first time MGM Resorts is doing an activation with UberEats, and it’s most likely the start of something very good.
Westside favorite Honey Salt is offering a cook-your-own family-style BBQ basket four available for pick up on Saturday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. On the menu: marinated chicken skewers with shishito peppers, red onions, zucchini and chimichurri (8 each, $130) or bone-in 16 oz. angus rib eye with house dry rub, red wine shallot butter, roasted garlic and rosemary (4 each, $190) or fully prepared BBQ baby back ribs ($160). Each choice is served with heirloom tomato and feta cheese salad, grilled asparagus, baked beans, pasta salad and peach and blackberry pie. Cocktail kits to go are also available for $50 to $60.
At The Stove in Henderson, dad will love that all three specials come with a craft beer. The BGR is made with house-blend beef, truffle special sauce, pickles, roasted tomatoes and greens with a side of fries ($15). The pot roast melt sandwich is made with gruyere cheese, demi-glaze and caramelized onions, piled on artisanal brioche bun ($15). The 8 oz skirt steak and eggs is made with charred tomatillo chimichurri, two eggs any style, and black beans ($20).
Las Vegas legend Lawry’s The Prime Rib is back with to-go grill packages and dine-in dad’s day specials. Grill packages are available for takeout and curbside pickup from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. All grill packages include grilling instructions, Lawry’s seasoned salt and pepper and a variety of three sauces: Diane, peppercorn and red wine shallot butter. Two choices of meats are: 4 8 oz. filet mignons ($99) and 4 14 oz. prime New York steaks ($119). And if you want to leave the cooking to the experts, Lawry’s The Prime Rib is offering a special menu from 4 to 8 p.m. Highlights include: Crab cakes with an arugula salad and lemon ($21), Surf and Turf with an 8 oz. filet mignon, crab cake, grilled asparagus and red wine butter ($59) and a Tullamore D.E.W. Flight ($25).
