Employees of Cox Communications-Las Vegas collected two-tons of canned food and other non-perishables during their annual four-week food-raising effort to benefit clients of The Salvation Army serving Southern Nevada.

The company also presented the agency with a $1,000 check to cover additional food needs.

This is the 16th year Cox employees have raised and donated food for The Salvation Army’s Family Services Division. The food donation will help The Salvation Army meet its demands for the mid- to late-December timeframe.

This year the 1,400 employees of Cox Las Vegas timed their annual donation with The Salvation Army’s December holiday food need as opposed to the more traditional Thanksgiving holiday food demand.

Representatives from The Salvation Army note their food pantries are often depleted following the Thanksgiving food distribution and for this reason Cox employees chose to move their donation back slightly in order to help restock food pantries in time for the mid- and late-December holiday food need.
