UPDATE FEB. 24: The Clark County coroner has identified the woman as 21-year-old Lisa Mokhtari from Paris, France.

ORIGINAL STORY
A 21-year-old woman was hit by a car while crossing a Las Vegas street inside of a marked crosswalk near the Arts District, according to police.

The crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Grand Central Parkway.

Investigators say a Toyota Prius was driving northbound on Industrial Road, which changes to Grand Central Parkway at Charleston Boulevard. The Toyota did not stop for a red traffic light and entered the intersection, police say.

The right side of the Toyota hit the front of a Chevrolet Silverado traveling westbound on Charleston Boulevard.

The crash caused the Toyota to turn clockwise, hitting a woman that was crossing eastbound across Grand Central Parkway in a marked crosswalk.

Police say the driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment.

The woman was transported to UMC Trauma where she died from her injuries.

Her identity and official cause of death will be released by the coroner pending next of kin notification.

This death marks the 19th traffic-related death in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2020.

This crash remains under investigation.
