Wind advisory issued for Southern Nevada; wind gusts could reach 70 mph

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Southern Nevada area on Wednesday.

Windy conditions are expected in the Las Vegas area with wind gusts possibly reaching 70 mph and sustained winds averaging 20-30 mph.

The advisory is in place from 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. The Red Rock area could see winds as high as 50 mph with gusts around 40 mph across parts of southwest Las Vegas.

The northern and eastern portions of the valley may see gusts from 20 to 30 mph.

A Lake wind advisory is also in place for the Lake Mead Recreation Area where wind speeds will likely create choppy water conditions and waves up to three feet.

Temperatures for Wednesday are expected to remain in the mid-60s under partly cloudy skies with windy conditions.
