LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Former U.S. Rep. Ruben Kihuen announced he will be running for a seat on the Las Vegas City Council.

Kihuen made the announcement on his Twitter page Tuesday that his candidacy will be for Ward 3 on April 2.

The former state representative did not seek re-election and finished out his term in Congress when facing an investigation from the House Ethics Committee on allegations of sexual misconduct.

House Democratic Leader, Nancy Pelosi, urged Kihuen to resign after the allegations were first brought up in a report by BuzzFeed News.

The report claimed a campaign staffer quit after receiving multiple unwanted advances and another woman also claimed that Kihuen touched her thighs or buttocks on multiple occasions.

Kihuen called the allegations "unsubstantiated hearsay and innuendo" in a statement released to the press.
