UPDATE 3 P.M.: During the worship service, multiple city, county and state leaders spoke on the positive impact Fowler had on their lives.

“Anytime you call him, he’s always right there to support you," said Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly.

"He took me in not only with open arms, but with an assertive interest in my development. Not just as a church leader, but in my development as a leader, a father and as a member of this community," says Assemblyman Jason Frierson

State Sen. Marcia Washington said Fowler had been her pastor for nearly 25 years, and he formed a personal relationship with anyone he met.

"He was more than just a pastor, he was a friend," she said, "he was a mentor. He had an open door if you wanted to talk to him. He would talk to everybody after service. I mean he was just a down to earth man and a friend to all of us."

Multiple community leaders issued statements following Fowler's death.

Victory Baptist Church is hosting a special worship service on Sunday to honor Fowler's life and legacy at 3 p.m.

The service will be broadcast on several of the church's streaming platforms.
