Police investigating fights at Western, Rancho High School

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Clark County School District police are investigating two separate incidents at Western High School and Rancho High School in the Las Vegas valley Thursday morning.

A food fight escalated into a physical altercation at Rancho while students were detained and pepper sprayed at Western.

Some students were cited at Rancho HS; two students were detained and six were pepper sprayed at Western HS.

Capt. Morales with the Clark County School District Police Department said that there were three fights at Western that started in the quad area.

The fights were reported at 11:40 a.m.

Western HS was also temporarily placed on a hard lockdown.

Morales also said that the fights were possibly related to race.
