LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the man killed in a deadly crash on the 215 beltway near Lone Mountain Road approaching Cheyenne Avenue last week.

Authorities say 23-year-old Kirone Sims Jr. from Fontana, California, was lying in a travel lane directly in the path of incoming traffic in the moments before he was hit by multiple vehicles on Feb. 12.

Sims was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death marks the Nevada Highway Patrol Southern Command’s sixth deadly crash in 2021, resulting in seven deaths for the year in the agency's jurisdiction.

The crash remains under investigation by law enforcement.
