LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — One person is dead after an overnight crash near the Las Vegas Strip.
It happened around 3:17 a.m. on Wednesday on Sammy Davis Jr. Drive near Resorts World Avenue, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
A woman was crossing diagonally across the intersection from the southwest against the pedestrian control signal and outside of a marked or implied crosswalk, police said.
At the same time, a 2025 Toyota Prius heading north on Sammy Davis Jr was approaching a green light at the intersection, according to authorities.
The pedestrian crossed the Toyota's path while slipping and falling to the ground, resulting in the crash, police said.
The woman was taken to UMC Trauma Center, where she died from her injuries.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene of the collision and cooperated with the investigation.
The pedestrian’s death marked the 66th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for the year 2026.
This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
