Las Vegas breaking news for October 24, 2017

This is a roundup of all the breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley for October 24, 2017.

10:58 P.M.

Las Vegas police are investigating a deadly shooting near Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway. Police say one person was shot and killed on scene and a second person was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. The shooting happened around 10 p.m. at 1135 East Desert Inn. Patrol and K9 officers are searching for the suspects.

2 P.M.

Maryland Parkway is shut down between Stewart Avenue and Fremont Street because of a crash involving Las Vegas police department. Ogden Avenue is shut down between 11th and 13th streets. Two other cars were also involved.

1:30 P.M.

There is a crash near Maryland Parkway and Ogden Avenue involving Las Vegas police. The crash happened around 1:19 p.m. There is no information at this time about injuries or what caused the crash but there are lane restrictions in place.

9 A.M.

Henderson police have confirmed a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle at Boulder Highway and Galleria Drive. READ MORE.

6:40 A.M.

A three-car crash on Interstate 15 northbound before Sahara Avenue caused all but one lane to be closed temporarily.

The lanes have now re-opened but traffic is still backed up.

1:25 A.M.

Las Vegas police are reporting a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle near Topaz Street, south of Tropicana Avenue. A male motorcycle rider apparently lost control of his motorcycle and was involved in a collision. The motorcycle rider was transported to the hospital where his condition was critical.

OVERNIGHT

An off-duty Clark County Fire Department Battalion Chief reported a fire at 560 East Windmill just shortly after 10 p.m. last night.  

It appeared that smoke was coming from the roof of the structure, a single-story strip mall near the intersection of Windmill Lane & Bermuda Road.  It appeared that an electrical sign on the front of the building had started a fire in the roof structure that supported it, but the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
 
No dollar figure has been determined at this time and the exact cause has yet to be released.  No injuries were reported.
