5 P.M.

Las Vegas police have confirmed that they are investigating a suspicious device in a dumpster in the 500 block of 8th Street, near Clark Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.

Officers have evacuated the area and several neighboring streets have been closed as a precaution.

OVERNIGHT

Las Vegas police say that the barricade situation has ended peacefully. PREVIOUS: Las Vegas police have an apartment unit surrounded with a man barricaded inside near Hualapai Way and Twain Avenue. Las Vegas police say they received multiple calls regarding a man wearing a business suit pointing guns at people inside the complex around 7 p.m. When police arrived, the man ignored commands and ran into an apartment unit. Police are asking citizens to avoid the area.
