The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

1:15 P.M.
Las Vegas police say a 2-year-old child fell into a pool at a home on Rose Hills Street near Ann and Cimarron Roads around 1:15 p.m. The child was transported to Summerlin Hospital. The child's condition is not known.

12:35 P.M.
Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting in the 1100 block of East Tropicana Avenue, near Maryland Parkway. Police said a man was shot and later died at Sunrise Hospital. Authorities believe the incident was narcotics-related, and no arrests were immediately made.

OVERNIGHT
Las Vegas police say a man is recovering in the hospital after being shot by an armed security guard around 2:45 a.m. on West Teco Avenue, near Valley View Boulevard and Sunset Road. Officers say the security guard saw two people, one may have had a gun, leaving the fenced area of a business. The security officer shot at the two people. Police officers responding to the situation followed a trail of blood and found one man shot. He was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. The other person was found hiding in a tent. The incident remains under investigation.
