The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

3:04 P.M.
Henderson Police and Henderson Fire responded to a crash at Mountain Vista Street and East Sunset Road. Preliminary details show that a silver compact car hit a man sitting next to a bus stop. The driver was taken to St. Rose Sienna hospital in unknown condition and the man who was struck by the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Impairment and speed appear to be factors at this time. Westbound East Sunset Road will be closed at Mountain Vista Street for the next 3 to 4 hours.

3:01 P.M.
Las Vegas homicide detectives are investigating a scene at 2855 North Walnut Road at Sunset Terrace Apartments. They will provide more details later. FULL STORY.

9:51 A.M.
A horse that was to be part of the Helldorado Parade was struck and killed after bolting from the event. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan watch commander, the horse became spooked in staging area for the parade and ran eastbound on Charleston Boulevard. It was struck by a pickup truck that was heading westbound near the intersection at 17th Street. The two people in the truck were treated at the scene for minor injuries but not transported. Westbound traffic on Charleston had to be temporarily diverted as officials investigate.

10:09 A.M.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police watch commander reports that a child was accidentally shot by a parent who had been cleaning the firearm at a residence located on the 8000 block of Denny Creek Way, near West Windmill Lane and South Durango Drive. The child was transported to a local hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. Police officials are investigating the incident.
