The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

5 P.M.
Las Vegas police responded to reports of a person with a gun near Rex Bell Elementary School, located near Sahara Avenue and Rancho Drive. However, officers did not immediately find a man with a gun in the area. Residents informed 13 Action News of a heavy police presence in the area.

3:36 P.M.
Las Vegas police were called to a crash at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Commerce Street. Westbound travel lanes were closed for the police activity.

OVERNIGHT
A kidnapping and robbery suspect is in custody after a pursuit last night that began around 11 p.m. Police officers were observing the suspect when the person took off. The suspect then crashed into an uninvolved citizen near Jones and Charleston boulevards. All of the persons involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One person tried to run away, but was caught within minutes. The area where the crash happened was blocked off for several hours.
