The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

8:04 P.M.
Inmate John Odoms, 72, died in the Northern Nevada Correctional Center Monday night. He was serving a life sentence for being a habitual criminal. He arrived at NDOC on Feb. 4, 1982.

8 P.M.
UPDATE: Henderson police say an adult man was shot by another adult man in the 1000 block of American Pacific Drive. The victim was taken to Sunrise hospital in stable condition. The suspect has not be caught yet. Police are saying this shooting happened as a result of a dispute between neighbors.

6 P.M.
Henderson police are investigating a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of American Pacific Drive, near Gibson Road. Police report the scene is active and officers are responding to the area.

5:18 P.M.
An unidentified man failed to stop at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) security gate at Mercury, Nevada. Both NNSS Security Protective Force officers and the Nye County Sheriff's Office pursued the man. At about eight miles past the security gate the man exited his car and approached officers with a cylindrical object in his hand. The man refused to listen to verbal commands issued by officers. When he approached the officers he was fired upon by both agencies. The suspect died at the scene. There were no injuries to any officers. The FBI has been notified of the incident.

4:40 P.M.
Authorities responded to a vehicle crash involving a bus in the 3300 block of Civic Center. Minor injuries were reported in the crash with 60 middle school students on the bus at the time of the incident.

2:30 P.M.
A student was arrested today for bringing a BB gun to Spring Valley High School. No threats were made and the gun was reportedly unloaded but the student was still arrested. OTHER INCIDENTS.

12:30 A.M.
Police are investigating a shooting at Bank of America near Spring Mountain and Wynn roads. Police say a woman was shot in the face. She was transported to a hospital and is stable. A suspect was detained a short distance a way. Police believe that the shooting may be related to a robbery or attempted robbery. READ MORE
