Las Vegas breaking news for January 10, 2019

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

3:35 P.M.

A verbal altercation between multiple people led to a deadly shooting in the 200 block of West New York Avenue, according to police. One person was shot and killed in the incident without a suspect in immediate custody. Homicide detectives were continuing their investigation.

3:20 P.M.

Police were called to a home in the 3400 block of Sandhill Road, near George Harris Elementary School, with reports of a woman sitting in her driveway with a shotgun in her lap. Witnesses informed police that she would point the gun at people if they tried to park in front of her house. Authorities said the woman was taken into custody with an ongoing investigation.

1:30 P.M.

Las Vegas police were called to a 7-Eleven convenience store at the corner of Cheyenne Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard with reports of a person shot. When officers arrived, the victim and the suspect(s) had already left the scene. Police were not sure of the severity of injuries and said the incident remained under investigation.

OVERNIGHT

A 46-year-old man is dead after being hit by a 2013 Kia Forte near East Bonanza Road and D Street around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday. The man was in a marked crosswalk but the vehicle had green traffic signals. The driver was not impaired. Police are still investigating. This is the 3rd traffic-related fatality for 2019.
