Las Vegas police say a car drove into a 7-Eleven at 1415 Fremont Street near 15th Street downtown and injured two people. The driver of the vehicle is in custody for suspected impairment.

Las Vegas police say State Route 157 to Kyle Canyon has been closed temporarily because of overcrowding.
Kyle Canyon Rd (state route 157) is being closed temporarily at Deer Creek Hwy (state route 158) junction due to overcrowding of vehicles. Workers, residents and those with table reservations will be allowed through.#BREAKING #LasVegas #LVMPD

Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting in the area of Smoke Ranch Road and Jones. Police say that a woman was transported to a local hospital. Her condition at this time is unknown. No arrests have been made at this time. READ MORE.
4:11 A.M.
JAN. 4 UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner has identified the decedent as 50-year-old Salvador Elizondo from Bullhead City, AZ. His cause of death was blunt force trauma and it was ruled an accident.
Las Vegas police say a 2014 Lexus was traveling on Needles Highway at a high rate of speed when the 50-year-old male driver failed to maintain his travel land and left the road. The vehicle overturned and ejected the unrestrained driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene. This was the 1st traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2021.

2:07 A.M.
JAN. 4 UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner has identified the man who died as 68-year-old Bijan Samimi from San Diego, CA. Samimi's cause of death was due to acute myocardial infarction and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and it was ruled natural.
Las Vegas police say a 2010 Ford Escape failed to stop within the boundaries of a marked parking stall in the parking lot of 1701 Fremont Street. The vehicle, driving by a 68-year-old man, continued over a walkway and hit the wall of a hotel. Medical personnel transported the driver to Sunrise Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The incident may have been the result of medical episode. It is still under investigation.
OVERNIGHT
North Las Vegas police say a man was shot around 4:15 a.m. during a New Year’s Eve party in the 3400 block of Bruce Street near Losee Road. Police say 2 people were fighting when a 3rd person approached and fired multiple shots. The victim was struck at least twice and died at University Medical Center. No arrests at this time.
