Las Vegas Breaking News for December 8, 2018

9:30 P.M.

Las Vegas police are investigating what appears to be a domestic-related shooting in the 60 block of Parrish Lane near East Charleston Boulevard and North Christy Lane at 8:01 p.m. An approximately 20-year-old man was transported to hospital with a serious gunshot wound. The area is locked down as police investigate and they advise for people to avoid the area.

9:30 A.M.

Henderson police responded to a call for a family disturbance in downtown Henderson around 3:40 p.m. A woman said that a man had an alleged explosive device in his car in an alleyway between South Texas Avenue and Nebraska Avenue. When police arrived they found what appeared to be a suspicious package in the car. Police cordoned off the alley for the investigation which had assistance from the Las Vegas Bomb Squad. They determined it was not a device but rather black powder. The components were rendered safe and the situation ended around 9:30 a.m.

2:40 A.M.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to an two-alarm downtown vacant motel fire on the 200 block of South 7th Street. One firefighter was injured and a civilian, believed to be a squatter on the property, was injured after jumping from a second story window as firefighters arrived at the scene.

3:22 A.M.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to a duplex fire on the 300 block of North 13th Street that was confined to one apartment. There were no injuries reported and investigators are looking into whether the fire may have been intentionally set.
