Westerly winds of 20-30 mph were fanning the flames and spreading embers to other nearby occupied homes, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue. Those nearby homes were evacuated. Because of the possibility that other homes could become involved, a second alarm was dispatched to the fire. The fire eventually brought 25 fire units with 60 fire personnel to the scene.

The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes after arriving on the scene, firefighters say.

The house where the fire started was destroyed. Two other properties on the street sustained minor damage from the fire.

The house is located outside the city limits in unincorporated Clark County so Clark County Fire Department Investigators will determine a cause and damage estimates.
