One of the officers was transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition with the driver of the other vehicle in custody.

According to a recent study, compared to an average night on the weekend, there are 71 percent more crashes with drugs or alcohol as a contributing factor between Dec. 31 at 6 p.m. and Jan. 1 at 6 a.m.
