The holidays are supposed to be fun but the Better Business Bureau says scammers take advantage of a lot of people during this time.

The BBB is warning consumers to beware of common holiday scams like phony charities. Officials say scammers often pose as charities or needy people soliciting money.

The BBB says you should always verify the charity at give.org and be on the lookout for names that might sound like a charity you've heard before.

Next, be on the look out for temporary holiday job scams. The BBB says beware of frauds who attempt to get your personal information from phony applications.
