This is a roundup of all the breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley for October 9, 2018.

9:57 P.M.

A 69-year-old woman was critically injured after a crash near Lake Mead Boulevard and Lincoln Road. Police said the woman and another person were crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk when the woman was hit by a Hyundai Elantra. The Hyundai avoided hitting one of the pedestrians. The driver of the Hyundai remained on scene and did not show signs of impairment. 

11:20 A.M.

Las Vegas police are investigating the death of a 1-year-old boy in the 700 block of East Twain Avenue, near Swenson Street. Police first received the call about an unresponsive child around 9:20 a.m. The boy was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital. The boy's cause of death is unknown. 

9:30 A.M.

Almost 1,500 NV Energy customers are without power in zip codes 89110 and 89115 on east side of valley. Reasons listed on website include pole or wire down and damage to NV Energy equipment. Estimated time of restoration is 1 to 2 hours for most customers. 

3:09 A.M.

A toy gun prompted the evacuation of a bus near Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue. Officers had received a call that a man on the bus had a weapon, later determined to be a toy gun. The man was taken into custody and transported to city jail on unrelated charges. No threats were made.
