LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Widespread wind gusts of 35 mph this afternoon may impact crews fighting the Cottonwood Fire, and cause any new fires to spread quickly, so a Red Flag Warning is in place today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Storms are not in the forecast across Southern Nevada today, so lightning is not a concern. There is a small (10%) chance for pop-up storms on Thursday.

The good news is that winds will relax by the end of the week, reducing fire danger.
Maximum wind speeds of 25 mph on Thursday will drop to 20 mph Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
