A large scale pattern shift across the United States will deliver cooler air to Las Vegas and the rest of the west for the next one to two weeks.

Average highs in Las Vegas in October fall from 87° on Oct. 1 to 74° by Halloween.

Forecast temperatures will be a little below average the rest of this week, in the low 80s.
We'll drop to the upper 70s on Saturday as a cold front moves in from the north and brings a few isolated showers.

Northwest winds could gust to 25 mph on Sunday and that will limit highs to the mid 70s, which is about 10° cooler than average!

We haven't been that cool relative to climatology in Las Vegas since the early spring.

The overall weather pattern through mid-October keeps a deep trough of low pressure over the western United States, which should prevent highs from rebounding into the 80s through the middle of the month.
