LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — It was wedding that nearly didn’t happen for a Henderson couple. Now, they’re tying the knot after housefire almost took everything away but kept their wedding symbols intact.

“So, there’s a thousand things to think about [for] a wedding, and then 10 thousand things to think about when you lose a house,” Kevin Lister, the new husband, said.

It’s a lot to think for Lister and Mimi Marois. It’s their special day—tying the knot after getting engaged for a few months.

“It just pulled us closer and it’s an amazing day,” Marois said.

Their wedding almost didn’t happen after a fire destroyed nearly everything at their Henderson home last Saturday. But firefighters saved the wedding dress and rings.

“It’s the ring. It’s what the firemen saved, it’s a lot cleaner,” Lister said.

It was with support from neighbors and the community, that they knew the wedding had to go on.

“We cannot believe how much people were there for us,” Marois said.

The wedding dress that was saved by firefighters was eventually exchanged, free of charge, from David’s Bridal for another dress after smelling of smoke.
