LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A local woman says her dog was stolen right out of her car on Monday and is desperately pleading for his return.

“My kids are 14 and 11, and they’ve had him their whole life. So it’s like losing a little brother, and I'm keeping it together because that’s all I can do right now,” dog owner Annette Scaldefarri said.

Now, the Scaldeferri family fears Barkley, their 12-year-old Yorkie, may never return home.

“We’ll offer a cash reward without any questions asked. We just want him back,” Scaldefarri said.

Annette said the situation was normal, bringing Barkley along for a ride as she dropped her kids off at school.

She then ran into the 24 Hour Fitness near Rainbow and U.S 95 for a quick workout and left Barkely inside her Lexus.

When she came back to her car, she found the driver’s side and passenger side front windows shattered.

“I noticed both windows had been bashed in, and I immediately thought about the dog,” Scaldefarri said.

Barkley was gone, and Annette believes he was stolen.

She says this isn't the first time either. Two weeks ago, Barkley was stolen out of her backyard in Rhodes Ranch.

“I never found him I went to sleep that night, and in the middle of the night I woke up and I could hear him at the front door, so I opened it up, and there he was in a red hoodie that someone else bought for him and returned him to my home,” Scaldefarri said.

She recognizes leaving Barkley in the car might raise some eyebrows but also thought she was doing the right thing.

“He’s got water in the car he’s got his blanket, the windows are cracked it’s a beautiful day, he was parked in the shade and not in any danger. I just thought he was better off with me than sitting at home by himself,” Scaldefarri said.

All she wants now is for Barkley to return safe and sound.
