LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department held a press briefing at 10 a.m. Wednesday to provide more information on several recent sexual assault investigations.

Sex Crimes Lieutenant Richard Meyers discussed recent sexual assault investigations and the case of 32-year-old Jorge Perez.

Suspects in these cases may have counted on the victim being afraid to report them, according to Meyers.

On Dec. 11, 2020, Jorge Perez arranged a date with a woman through an online dating application. The two met in the 5000 block of East Sahara Avenue where he violently sexually assaulted her at gunpoint. Detectives worked tirelessly to identify and locate Perez, and on Dec. 13, Perez was arrested for five counts of Sexual Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and one count of Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon.
