A Mohave County man is claiming that he was just trying to help his girlfriend with her anger issues when he "accidentally slipped his arm down and around her neck."
The Mohave County Sheriff's Office received a call from 19-year-old Richard Williams' girlfriend on Thursday.
His girlfriend told deputies that she and Williams got into an argument about her social media account. The woman also told deputies that he held her down on the floor, grabbed her throat, and bit her chest. She also admitted that she bit her boyfriend in retaliation.
Deputies then spoke to Williams. He told them that his girlfriend had told him to restrain her when she becomes angry. He then said that he must have "accidentally slipped his arm down and around her neck" when the two of them were struggling.
Williams was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into Mohave County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault domestic violence. He was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia as a result of a search during his arrest. All charges are felony charges.
