An arrest report revealed that the person who took a teen girl to MountainView Hospital after she was shot was the boyfriend who was later arrested.
After the incident last Wednesday, 21-year-old Seneca Carey told emergency room staff and patrol officers that the 17-year-old girl had shot herself while sitting in the right front passenger seat of his car while playing with his gun.
Police discovered that the girl had been shot in the left side of the neck while her left hand was in her jacket pocket. According to the arrest report, the girl would have had to have shot herself with her right hand. The officer was not able to recreate the situation.
When Carey was interviewed by police, he again said that she had shot herself. He said he spoke with her for about 30 minutes until she told him to call 911.
Due to Carey not immediately seeking medical help, police believed Carey was lying to hide the fact that he shot her intentionally.
After he was placed in handcuffs, Carey admitted to police that he had shot the girl but called it an accident.
Carey was booked on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon.
