LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Police fatally shot a suspect after he allegedly pointed a gun at officers and fired at them in east Las Vegas on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
WATCH | LVMPD provides update on shooting:
According to Capt. Adam Seely, Bureau Commander of LVMPD's Internal Oversight and Constitutional Policing, police received reports at approximately 12:25 p.m. about a man shooting a gun into traffic in the area of Lake Mead Boulevard and Sloan Lane.
When officers arrived, they gave commands to the suspect to drop the weapon, but he "did not comply" and eventually shot towards officers, Seely said. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Seely.
LVMPD said more information will be provided at a 72-hour briefing. Seely said this is the sixth officer-involved shooting in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2026.
